It is hard to believe that it is the end of May. We have the privilege of working with your children for only a few more weeks before they are off for the summer. We also know that the job of educating our children is a very serious and important job (they are our future). This does not mean that we can not have fun while we perform this job. In fact, research shows that people (children especially) are more productive and learn more when they enjoy themselves.

These are the online services that are now available through our Food Service Point of Sale (POS) system: SendMoneyToSchool.com and LunchApp.com.

SendMoneyToSchool.com enables you to view your child’s account history and food choice details at no charge. In addition, you will be able to deposit money into your child’s account using your debit/credit card. There is a nominal service fee when utilizing this electronic deposit feature. This web site is easy to use. All you need to begin using this site is your child’s student ID#.

FV Brainstormers.jpg

Once again the students of Fairview were entertained, encouraged and cheered on toward better writing by the Brainstormers. The Brainstormers, a group of actors who use comedy and improvisation to illustrate the importance of elements such as characters, activity, problem and solution, in effective story writing, involve students in this interactive and fun assembly. After a first visit to invite us to write, the Brainstormers return to act out stories written by students in our school. What an exciting and fun way to recognize creativity and hard work and to say "write on".

Apple Valley.jpg

The third graders at Fairview Elementary turned back the hands of time to the last half of the 19th century. They participated in a simulation called Apple Valley School. They pretended to be students from a one-room schoolhouse during the rough and tumble pioneer days. Students developed a sense of history as they explored this special time in our past.

Students earned graduation points by completing challenge tasks, writing diary entries, choosing fate cards and behaving properly. They all were recognized for their talents, efforts and achievements at their graduation ceremony. During the ceremony, students read fables and poems, shared projects, top graduates made speeches and the class entertained everyone with a square dance. We are very proud of our Apple Valley graduates.

As part of their Cub Scout Pack 3239 Community Project, Fairview Elementary students Andrew Hammond and Logan Long, spent the afternoon cleaning up the school grounds. Even though it was very hot for a spring day, they spent 2 hours getting the grounds ready for our "Farewell to Fairview" open house scheduled for Thursday, June 3rd from 6:00-8:30pm
