2A. Another volunteer opportunity is to volunteer at lunchtime. This can be anytime during 10:45 and 1:30. You do NOT have to stay the whole time (maybe just stay for your child's lunch??) This is a great way to see your kiddo during the day and help open all of those milks. During the first few weeks of school we really appreciate the help with our kindergarten and Young 5's (K-Knights) lunches. If you are interested, please fill out THIS FORM.

2B. If you would like to volunteer in the classrooms, that would be great. Please reach out to your child's teacher once you know his/her name to volunteer in the classrooms. You will need a current background check/volunteer form on file. You can complete this at the Administration Building this summer.

2C. Volunteer at Dismissal. I SEE all you early arrivers in your cars, lol. Park 'em and help outside. Just being a presence is awesome! If you want more of a role, you can hold up a bus sign, help in the crosswalk, make sure students are walking slowly, come inside and help dismiss students, etc. The first few weeks of school this is crucial, but it is much appreciated ANY time. Please fill out THIS FORM if you are interested.

3. I know you are now thinking - class lists! WHO is my child's teacher? I don't know yet, lol. We had some staffing changes and are finalizing teachers. I do NOT move students as the teachers work REALLY hard on class ratios, splitting up students, etc. If you have a preferred learning environment for your child, please reach out to your child's current teacher. We try to meet every request that we can, but that conversation needs to be had with your child's current teacher.

4. Lunch and Breakfast are NOT free this upcoming school year. EVERYONE (even if you JUST registered) HAS to complete a lunch application AFTER July 1. Please look for an email from Shanna Williams (swilliams@khps.org) on this. Email her if you have ANY questions about lunch/breakfast. PLEASE start talking to your child now if you want him or her to have lunch or breakfast. If you want to add money to your child's account, you can do that as well. Just reach out to swilliams@khps.org and she will send you the link. The best advice I have is to print out the lunch/breakfast calendar and sit down with your child to discuss the days you want him/her to have a meal at school. Right now, the tentative plan is to have students eat breakfast at 8:30 and then proceed to his/her class, so it's really important to let your child know if he/she should find the teacher or the cafeteria each morning.

5. Staff Changes-we've had a few retirements, a few teachers mixing it up and changing grades, as well as a few moms opting to stay at home with their kiddos. I will send out another email that describes all of the changes that are happening to celebrate those teachers as well as welcome the new ones.

I think that's it for now. Thanks for reading all the way to the end.

It has truly been a privilege to have your child in our school. This year was tough to navigate at times, and I really appreciated everyone that was patient, kind, and understanding as we worked together. We also had so much to celebrate as well: students learning how to read for the first time, students working together to accomplish goals, the musical concert, our SUNS headed out to the baseball game, the community coming together for Field Day. Those bring so much joy to me. I can't wait for the Talent Show next year!

REDEFINED

Our Personal Mastery educational experience has redefined education and has gained attention around the state and nation. Personal Mastery provides your child with personalized attention from teachers.
