Central Families,
Our first week of Paint Kenowa Green was full of great discussions and activities all about Social Connections. We wear green every Friday during February to raise awareness and promote mental well-being for everyone. This week's theme is movement!
Beginning today, students who arrive between 8:30 am - 8:35 am will continue to line up with their classes. Kindergarten and 1st grade students will now line up on the main playground sidewalks (near where the 2nd and 3rd grade classes already line up). The school day begins at 8:37 am. Any students who arrive after the classes have already walked in (at 8:35 am) will need to enter the building through the front office. If it is raining or below 0 degrees, we will skip the morning lines and all students may enter through the closest door to them, beginning at 8:30 am.
I'm so excited to hear our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders perform their musical concerts tonight. Concerts will be at the KH High School Performing Arts Center (3825 Hendershot NW Grand Rapids, MI 49544). Details about the concerts and many more upcoming events are listed below.

Central Families,
Welcome to Paint Kenowa Green!
Paint Kenowa Green is our Mental Health Awareness Initiative that we run through the month of February. We chose green because the green ribbon is the international symbol for mental health awareness. During this month, we aim to start meaningful conversations about mental health, reduce stigma, and provide support for those who may be struggling.
Through various activities and events, we encourage students, staff, and the community to engage in conversations, raise awareness, and promote mental well-being for everyone. Together, we can create a more understanding and supportive environment for all.
The students and staff at Central will have the opportunity to participate in different activities each week themed around social connections, movement, gratitude, and mindfulness!
Let's Paint Kenowa Green and spread the message of hope and support!

Safety Reminder: Do not use Nolan Ave as a drop off or pick up loop. Our buses cannot safely enter or exit our parking lot with cars lining both sides of the street and our neighbors cannot get in and out of their driveways safely. Please use the loop at the front of the building that was designed for pick up and drop off. Thank you!

Central Families,
I'll be taking summer birthday pictures June 2 - 5. Those will be posted throughout the summer on our Central Facebook page.
Our Capturing Kids' Hearts character trait this month is Integrity: doing the right thing even when no one else is looking. With summer approaching quickly, we're seeing an increase in antisocial behaviors at the school and while students are away from school via social media. I encourage you to take a moment to talk with your student(s) about their behavior and integrity. Give them some ideas of how they can end this school year strong.
I hope you spend your Memorial Day Weekend doing something that is meaningful for you and your family. We'll see you next Tuesday!
