Dear KHMS Families,

One of the best parts of this time of year is getting to celebrate our students’ hard work, and we are especially excited about our upcoming Honor Roll Field Trips. These trips are a chance to recognize the dedication and effort so many of our students have shown. We are proud of them and look forward to celebrating their accomplishments together.

Thank you as well for making sure your students were here for Count Day. Your partnership truly matters, and we appreciate the extra effort it takes to ensure strong attendance on important days like that. It makes a meaningful difference for our school.

We’ve also noticed that the parking lot has been running much more smoothly this week. Thank you for following our procedures and helping keep arrival and dismissal safe and efficient for everyone. Your cooperation does not go unnoticed, and we encourage everyone to keep up the great work.

As a reminder, there will be no school on 2/13, 2/16, and 2/17. We hope you enjoy the extended weekend and some extra time together as a family.

Finally, a quick reminder about iReady minutes at home. Consistent practice helps build both skills and confidence. Encouraging your student to stay on track with their minutes—even a little at a time—can make a big difference in their growth.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We are grateful to work alongside such a strong and supportive school community.

As always—Go Knights!

Dear Kenowa Hills Middle School Families,

We are off to a busy and positive start to the semester, and it has been great to see students engaged in learning and settling back into routines. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

I want to begin with an important reminder regarding arrival and dismissal procedures. For the safety of all students, families must use the designated parent drop-off and pick-up areas and should not park in the front office lot. Parking in this area creates traffic backups and safety concerns for students and staff. Thank you to the many families who are already following these expectations and helping keep our campus safe. We will be monitoring arrival and dismissal closely and will have staff out supporting these procedures as much as possible. Please review the parking lot diagram included in this newsletter.

This week also includes Count Day on Tuesday, February 11, making student attendance especially important. We appreciate your help in ensuring students are present and on time.

We are also excited to celebrate our students’ hard work with upcoming Honor Roll field trips. Permission slips were sent home with students who qualified this past Thursday. Please be sure to review and return them so students can participate.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the STEM Open House and Inside the Castle hosted by Superintendent Hopkins. These events were a wonderful way to highlight student learning and connect as a school community.

Lastly, a quick reminder that students may work on i-Ready at home to complete their weekly 30 minutes in both Math and Reading. This is a great opportunity for students to build confidence, strengthen skills, and stay on track, and we appreciate families’ support in encouraging this learning at home.

Thank you for your continued support as we start the semester strong. We look forward to a great week ahead.

As always—Go Knights!

Dear Kenowa Hills Middle School Families,

I want to begin by sincerely thanking our staff, students, and families for the care and support you’ve shown one another during what has been a difficult week. We have truly felt the strength and kindness of our school community, and we are so grateful for you.

Count Day is coming up on February 11. We kindly ask families to avoid scheduling appointments on this day whenever possible, as it is important that students are present for the entire school day. Count Day plays a significant role in determining school funding, which supports programs, staff, and resources for our students. Thank you for helping us ensure every student counts.

Due to our recent snow days, report cards will not be sent home today. We are hopeful they will go home with students on Monday, February 2. Once report cards are finalized, we will calculate GPAs for Honor Roll. We are excited to celebrate our Honor Roll students with a special Honor Roll Field Trip during the week of February 16, with more details to be shared next week.

Our STEM Open House has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 5, from 6:30–8:00 p.m. This family-friendly event will highlight our newly redesigned STEM space, student projects from all STEM Academy classes, and hands-on activities where guests can build mini versions of our projects using our technology. We hope you’ll join us for a fun and engaging evening.

Finally, be sure to check the newsletter for details about the Parent Group fundraiser on February 3. It’s a great opportunity to support our school and enjoy a well-deserved night off from cooking.
