Kenowa Hills Enrollment

Welcome to Kenowa Hills, Home of the Knights!

Kenowa Hills Public Schools believes that our strength lies in our community. We create a spirit of belonging for all of our Knights, a place where everyone is valued. From 6 months at our Early Childhood Center child care to year 13 through our Middle College program, there are a variety of paths where all students can succeed and reach their full potential.

    Process & Procedural Information

    The sections below contain important information regarding the documents needed and the steps to enroll at Kenowa Hills.

    The following are required documents for all new student enrollment:

    1. Birth Certificate (issued by the county where the child was born, with a raised seal). The Michigan Missing Children’s Act (MCL 380.1135) requires that you provide a copy of the child’s original birth certificate when you are enrolling in school. If you do not meet this requirement within 30 days, the school must notify local law enforcement.
      1. For students born in Kent County, visit accessKent.com for information regarding ordering a birth certificate either in person, online, or by mail.
    2. Immunization Records or Immunization Waiver (waivers must be obtained through the Kent County Health Department; 616-632-7047).
      1. See vaccines required for school entry in Michigan.
      2. Visit mcir.org/public for information on obtaining immunization records.
    3. Photo ID of the enrolling parent/guardian (driver's license, state ID, or passport).
    4. Current Proof of Residency: Must include name of parent/legal guardian enrolling student (provide one of the following):
      1. Utility bill (gas, electric, or water, dated within the last month).
      2. Property tax statement (not a tax assessment or mortgage statement) dated with the current tax season.
      3. Proof of home purchase (additional documentation may be requested).
      4. Rental/lease agreement (including the page with the landlord and tenant signatures).
      5. If living with family or friends in their home, the following is needed:
        1. A proof of residency as listed above from the homeowner.
        2. A letter, typed or handwritten, by the homeowner that includes the names of those living at the residence, the address of the residence, the date and signature of the homeowner, parent/legal guardian, and the letter must be notarized.

    The following are required documents for Kindergarten and K-Knight (Young 5s) students only in addition to the required documents:

    1. Health Appraisal Form (signed by the physician and parent). Health appraisal exams must be completed within 12 months before the start of school.
    2. Hearing and vision screening (screenings can be completed by your family physician or through the Kent County Health Department; 616-632-7047. Screenings must be completed within 6 months before the first day of school. The results page is given after the screening).
    3. Oral Health Assessment Form (screening is quick and simple and can completed by your family dentist or can be accessed for free without insurance through the Michigan Health Department).

    The following may be required if applicable to your student:

    • Copy of the student transcript (grades 9-12 only).
    • Copy of the student IEP (if special services are needed).
    • Court documents (i.e. guardianship, custody, foster care, etc.).

    Kent ISD Schools of Choice Plan

    Section 105c State Plan

    All students residing within the Kent Intermediate School District may apply for enrollment in any Kent ISD school that has available openings during the application period.
