Attendance Note from Mr. O'Dell
The second semester starts on Tuesday, January 21. Attendance that counts for dances will begin on this day. The following conditions must be met for a student to attend a dance. Students cannot miss more than 10% of the scheduled school days in each hour. We will have been in school 21 days before the dance. Applying the 10% rule means students may not miss more than 2 days in any class. If they do, they cannot attend the dance. Students wanting to attend this year's Junior/Senior Prom on Friday, Apr 25, 2025, cannot miss more than 5 days in any class. A student must pass ⅚ classes to attend a dance. Due to students' short class time in the second semester, we will use grades from the 1st semester due to students' short time in class in the 2nd semester. Finally, students cannot have violated the alcohol/tobacco/vape/mood altering/drug policies within the last calendar year. A calendar year is 365 days from the day the offense occurred. Fighting can also prevent a student from attending extra-curricular activities/dances. If you have any questions, please contact the office.
Senior All Night Party
Hello Senior Parents/Guardians of the class of 2025, REGARDING: · Cost to attend the senior all night party · How to pay · Financial assistance · Deadline for payment Although it is the winter season and we are busy with holiday preparations, we wanted to share important information regarding the SANP. Once the new-year approaches, time seems to fly and end of the year celebrations will be here before we know it. Despite rising costs all around us, we collectively agreed to keep the cost for attendance the same as the last few years. The cost for seniors to attend is $125. If you have more than one child attending, the cost for each student is $100. This amount, in combination with all of the fundraising, will cover costs for the venue(s), dinner, entertainment, snacks, food, drinks, raffles, a gift for every senior in attendance and more. In order to plan for the party, we are asking that payment be sent in by Feb 14, 2025 (or sooner) to reserve your senior's spot. Payment can be sent in 3 ways: 1. VENMO: @khsanp parents. Please note your senior’s name in messages. 2. CHECKS: payable to “KH SANP” 3. CASH · If paying by cash or check, please place payment in a SEALED envelope that is clearly labeled with your student's name and place in the locked “SANP” drop box in the student services/counseling area. (Again, this box is locked at all times). If your senior would like to attend, but is in need of financial assistance, please email Karen Hendricks at khendricks1114@gmail.com. Each request will be kept confidential. Our goal is to provide our seniors with a SAFE and SUPERVISED place to celebrate the end of their high school career with friends and classmates. This night is sure to bring loads of fun with memories to last a lifetime. Our fundraising efforts will continue to ensure we can make this happen. Please like and follow us on Facebook “Kenowa Hills 2025 SANP” for fundraising information. Thank you for your support! -Your 2025 SANP committee.

Attendance
The county-wide Strive for 5 is still our goal for every student. Students with excessive chargeable absences will not be allowed to attend dances and/or other extracurricular activities. Please refer to the Student handbook for more information as to which kind of absences count against them. Students over 5 minutes late to class other than their first hour are considered absent. The rest of our attendance policy can be found in our student handbook.
If your student is going to be absent, late, or needs to leave early, please call the attendance line at 616-784-2400 Ext. 2 or you can email at hsattendance@khps.org. Please call ahead if your student needs to leave early. It is important to have limited interruptions into the classroom. Please call in the morning and leave a message if needed, so a pass can be written. Students
may not leave class without permission from the office.

TRANSPORTATION BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CAREOur Personal Mastery educational experience has redefined education and has gained attention around the state and nation. Personal Mastery provides your child with personalized attention from teachers. Instead of teaching to a broad group of students without an understanding of their individual strengths and weaknesses, Personal Mastery allows teachers to interact with students individually or in small groups to help them better address their weaknesses. In this way, we strive to help your child reach their full potential.
